Information for Consecration Weekend

From the Transition Committee

We are so excited to welcome members of the Diocese of Arkansas and the wider church to the Ordination and Consecration of our 14th Bishop this weekend. Here are a few details to help you prepare for the event.

Clergy Lunch on Friday

All clergy are invited to lunch at 11:30 a.m. [corrected time] on Friday, January 5, at the Capitol Hotel. If you did not receive a paper invitation in the mail, but would like to attend, please RSVP to Missy McCain at missy@trinitylittlerock.org.

Ordination and Consecration Service

The service will take place Saturday, January 6, at Episcopal Collegiate School (1701 Cantrell Rd., Little Rock, AR 72201) in the Championship Gym, followed by a reception in the dining hall. Childcare is available in the lower school gym beginning at 9 a.m.

The service begins at 11 a.m. with prelude music starting at 10:30 a.m. We encourage guests to arrive between 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Guests may park at Episcopal Collegiate School, or in our overflow parking across the street at the Dillard’s facility. There will be a crossing guard to help folks get across Cantrell safely.

While some participants in the service have reserved seats, seating is open for all other guests. This means that your registration does not guarantee you a specific seat. We encourage you to arrive ahead of time to secure the seat of your choice. Overflow seating will be set up in the dining hall across from the gym where the service will be broadcast.

All clergy are invited to vest in cassock, surplice, and white stole, and walk in the procession. Clergy who do not have a liturgical role are invited to arrive at 9:45 a.m. to vest.

In addition to clergy, members of Standing Committee, Executive Council, and Search Committee; General Convention delegates; and Diocesan Staff are invited to participate in Saturday’s procession. No vestments necessary for these participants.

Every congregation is asked to bring their banner, banner stand, and a banner-bearer for the procession. Banner-bearers do not vest, but dress professionally. They may also arrive at 9:45 a.m. to set up their banner stand and find their place in the procession line.
