Bishop Search Committee Appointed

An Update from the Standing Committee

The current step in our Bishop Search process is to appoint a Bishop Search Committee to develop a diocesan profile, application process, and a slate of candidates. The response to the call for applications to the Bishop Search Committee was enthusiastic, a clear sign of health and vitality in our diocese.

The Standing Committee has done our best to create a Bishop Search Committee that is diverse and representative of the diocese as a whole. From the highly-qualified pool of applicants, we selected 13 individuals and a chaplain who we believe will serve our diocese with wisdom and faithfulness in this step of our search. The Standing Committee has appointed the following people to serve:

  • Jerry Adams, St. Peter's, Conway (lay person), Chair

  • Mercedes Clements, Trinity Church, Van Buren (priest)

  • Lisa Corry, Trinity Cathedral, Little Rock (priest)

  • Justin Craig, Trinity Cathedral, Little Rock (lay person)

  • Peggy Cromwell, St. Nicholas, Maumelle (priest)

  • Cindy Fribourgh, St. Margaret's, Little Rock (deacon)

  • Tim Ford, St. Mary's, El Dorado (lay person)

  • Christy Glaze, St. John's, Camden (lay person)

  • Kevin Gore, St. Mark's, Jonesboro (priest)

  • Jackie Lawrence, Grace Church, Siloam Springs (lay person)

  • Marianne Maynard, St. Alban's, Stuttgart (lay person)

  • Marvin McLennon, Christ Church, Little Rock (lay person)

  • Sara Milford, All Saints', Bentonville (priest)

The chaplain to the Bishop Search Committee will be David Angus, a priest serving at St. James, Eureka Springs.

The Bishop Search Committee’s work is only one part of a much larger search process. Many of their duties will unfold out of public sight, but there will be several opportunities to add your voice, which you will hear more about in the coming months. We commit to continued transparency and communication where possible, recognizing much of the process from this point forward is confidential. Please continue to hold our search in your prayers.
