St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Stuttgart, Ark., has a long-standing relationship with another church in the neighborhood—New Bethel AME. New Bethel’s pastor, the Rev. Wayne A. Johnson, Sr., is an accomplished organist who sometimes practices on St. Alban’s organ (“because the doors of the church are never locked,” he said). So St. Alban’s vicar, the Rev. Dee Stayton, proposed an idea. And on a recent Sunday evening, the two congregations joined together at St. Alban’s for a service of lessons and hymns. Click above to hear what the Rev. Johnson had to say about the relationship between the two churches and this special service.
